Assistant Principal - 2018-19

Applications are being sought for Assistant Principal/Dean of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

Reports to:  Principal

The assistant principal, in collaboration with the principal, assumes responsibility for the quality of the instructional program.  The duties of the assistant principal span several areas:  Instructional Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Staffing, Student Recruitment and Retention.  The assistant principal works as an integral member of the administrative team of the school, actively collaborating with the Principal and other administrators to ensure that the school operates as a high-functioning, student-center learning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Principal on all hiring, orientation, and development of academic faculty
  • Provides instructional support and feedback to faculty including daily classroom observations
  • Monitors and supports the implementation of the Cristo Rey Network Curriculum
  • Supports faculty in curriculum development
  • Establishes daily common planning periods for department and grade clusters and ensures that the uses of subjects area meetings are for data analysis, collaborative planning, and professional development
  • Works with Principal and counselor to analyze student testing data to anticipate academic support needs;
  • Assists teachers and staff with the use of instructional program, curricular, and academic support needs;
  • Assist teachers and staff with use of instructional technology in classroom lessons;
  • Works with the Principal in the design, implementation, and execution of the master schedule;
  • Effectively manages the school’s student information system, ensuring accurate reporting of student performance and monitoring;
  • Serves as liaison to Hillsborough County Schools regarding Title I and Title 2 Programs;
  • Coordinates substitutes when teachers are absent;
  • Monitors Rediker Teacher Plus Portals and other learning management system, ensuring proper design and educational support
  • Designs and implements academic support program in conjunction with faculty and staff that partners with local universities to provide support for students
  • Works closely with parents and families to support student success
  • With Principal and counseling staff schedules meeting with students and parents who are on academic probation and create individualized student progress plans and contracts to promotes achievement
  • Coordinates data review session with faculty and staff to examine student performance and reflect on teacher effectiveness in conjunction with quarterly interim assessments
  • Assist with the summer bridge planning to create a 2-week summer program to prepare freshmen for academic success and work-study internship;
  • Coordinates all components of a summer school credit recovery program
  • Collaborates in the creation and monitoring of the annual academic calendar for all faculty and students
  • In the absence of the Principal, serves as the academic officer of the school
  • Assist in leading school design and improvement, helping to ensure a dynamic adult learning community
  • Plans and manages Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by the Principal


  • Masters Degree in Education Leadership
  • Prior school-based administrative experience
  • Demonstrates experience in the leadership of instructional technology
  • Commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey High as a leader in the education of students from undeserved population
