Transforming Our Future – One Student At a Time

What are the academic expectations?

Students will be challenged and will be expected to work hard in and out of class to attain the knowledge and skills that will lead them to success in college and beyond. The curriculum is a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum

Do all students participate in the Corporate Work Study Program?

Yes, as a requirement for admission, all students must be 14 years old and have the necessary documentation to be legally employed in the United States. Students who cannot work cannot remain in the academic program.

Is the school calendar the same as Tampa Public Schools and/or the other Catholic schools?

While efforts are made to align the calendar with traditional school calendars, the primary influence on the calendar is our students' commitment to their corporate jobs and their need for instructional time. As such, some of the holidays and vacations are more in line with federal holidays than traditional school holidays; for instance, we do not take many of the breaks that are assumed at both public and private schools. In addition, programs for all incoming students are held in the summer and are a requirement for admission to the program. Because of our Corporate Work Study Program and our students' need for quality instructional time, our school year is longer than most, as is our school day.

Are Honors or AP level courses offered?

Yes, Honors and AP courses are part of the Cristo Rey Tampa curriculum. Students are placed in courses based on their prior grades, recommendations, and the academic team's decision.

Will students be prepared for State of Florida end of course examinations?

As an independent school, Cristo Rey Tampa is not obligated to any state or district testing. Our students take the final exams of the Cristo Rey Network of Schools, exams which closely mirror other college preparatory school exams.

Is Cristo Rey Tampa accredited?

We have started preparations for our first accreditation.
