Q.
How do I apply?
  • The application period opens October 1, 2018.
  • Parents should schedule a time to meet with an Admissions staff member to start the application process by calling 813-621-8300, ext. 224 or emailing admissions@cristoreytampa.org.
  • An interview is part of the Admissions process.
Q.
Is there an Entrance Exam?

No. However, a placement test is given to incoming 9th grade students upon enrollment to accurately place students in academic classes.

Q.
Do all students participate in the Corporate Work Study Program?

Yes. As a requirement for admission, all students must be 14 years old and have the necessary documentation to be legally employed in the United States. Students who cannot work cannot remain in the academic program.

Q.
Are extra-curricular activities and sports offered?

Yes! Cristo Rey Tampa offers athletic teams and extracurricular activities.  Additional clubs and activities are offered based on student interest and the availability of moderators. We are very proud and supportive of our students' extracurricular efforts, it is essential to understand that academics and work always come first.  Students' first commitment on the days they work is to their job, and they may not miss work to participate in sporting events or other activities.  Likewise, students who are struggling academically will be placed in tutoring and may be ineligible for extracurricular opportunities until they improve their academic performance.

Q.
Is Cristo Rey Tampa co-ed?

Yes. Cristo Rey Tampa serves both young men and women.

Q.
Is there a uniform?

Yes, all students are required to report to school each day in the appropriate uniform. We are proud to partner with Educational Outfitters  for school uniforms.

Q.
Do you need to be Catholic to apply?

No, we welcome students of all faiths and denominations. The school is open to all interested applicants and religious preference is not a factor in the admissions process. We pride ourselves on a diverse student and staff/faculty body. CRT is a Catholic institution, so a four-year curriculum in religious studies is expected of all students. Regular liturgical celebrations, service projects, and spiritual retreats are also a component of our students’ education.

Q.
What is the average contribution paid by the family?

Parents/guardians pay as little as $65 a month, depending on the Step Up For Student guidelines, for their student to attend Cristo Rey Tampa High School.  Families must first apply and qualify for the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship through Step Up For Students at www.stepupforstudents.org.

The Step Up For Students Scholarship award is unique to each family's income. When the Step Up application period opens, applications are processed in the order on which they are received (including all supporting documentation). Scholarships are awarded with priority given to renewal families followed by new families with the greatest financial need.

Please contact our Admissions department for assistance.

Our school is located near a transfer center for the bus line (D - Net Park), students are then bussed from Net Park to CRT which is less than a minute drive.
