Transforming Our Future – One Student At a Time

Guidance Services

Guidance

At Cristo Rey Tampa counseling services are available to all students and are designed to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of students at each grade level (i.e. career planning, educational planning, college planning, and personal and social development issues). The counselor acts as a resource person, a coordinator among teachers, parents, students, and serves as an advisor to students. The counselor will seek to understand the expectations and concerns of both students and parents and work together closely to empower both so the student may enjoy a prosperous and gratifying high school experience.

College Planning

We support students and families in finding the best "fit" college or university. This is a place where a student may be challenged, happy, and healthy while growing in knowledge.  Cristo Rey offers a comprehensive four-year program that utilizes Naviance—an online guide that assists students with college and career planning—and engages freshman in learning style instruments, personality inventories, career surveys, goal setting, and resume development. Students learn the importance of their “numbers” regarding GPA and standardized test scores, and how those numbers are used in college acceptances, Bright Futures, and scholarship awards. By the beginning of their junior year, the college & career counselor meets with students to explain the college admissions process and helps them refine their search for colleges that match their interests. The college application process begins the summer before senior year begins.

Visit our CRT College-bound Advisory Page for information pertaining to college recruitment visits, scholarship information and applying to college.

Social/Emotional Development

Through Frameworks and the School Connect® program, our students learn the lifelong importance of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
